The UK government has published the Border Target Operating Model, also known as the BTOM, which sets out a world-leading model for the import of goods, including plants and plant products, underpinned by an intelligent approach to risk management.
The BTOM continues the phased approach of biosecurity controls to the import regime of plants and plant products. If you import certain plants and plant products from the EU to GB, you need to start preparing for the new plant health import requirements coming into force from January 2024, and April 2024.
This training session will focus on the changes to border checks that come into force on 30 April 2024. It is aimed at traders who import high risk plants and plant products/ medium-risk plants and plant products from the EU to GB . If you’re unsure of which risk category your goods fall into, you can check this on the Plant Health Portal.
